Announcement!
On December 8, from 6:30 p.m.- 8:30 p.m., the nearly final design for Orting's Bridge for Kid's project will be on display in the Commons area of the Orting Middle School.
Members of the Bridge for Kids Group, along with members of the project's Steering Committee will be present to explain details and listen to comments and feedback.
Our apologies for the late notice. Many had to be covered and many more will still need to be covered as the project moves forward. As ever, Bridge for Kids is open to new ideas and concepts and we look forward to your input. Community support is an important element of the process, and important to finding a solution for lahar evacuation.
Who Are We?
Bridge for Kids began in November 2001. At a PTA meeting, a group of concerned parents gathered to discuss emergency evacuation in the event of a volcanic hazard known as a lahar. This formed a coalition of parents, school employees, and citizens to develop a feasible evacuation plan for the Orting School District.
Mission Statement
To help plan and develop a pedestrian bridge/corridor linking the Orting Valley to the Cascadia Plateau, providing education, evacuation, recreation and access between the communities.
